DMC Video Garners Award

A video created by our Digital Media Commons staff was recognized by Lyrasis at their latest eGathering as one of the top three entered in a contest.  LYRASIS partners with member libraries to create, access and manage information, while building and sustaining collaboration, enhancing library and technology operations, and increasing buying power. Congratulations to the DMC folks!

North Carolina Literary Map Featured in Our State Magazine

The April 2013 issue of Our State features features an article about the North Carolina Literary Map developed by the Martha Blakeney Hodges Special Collections and University Archives at UNC Greensboro.  Markfield, Evan.  "Digital Literary Heritage: An Online Database Tracks Authors and the Local Towns Where their Stories are Set." Papers of Authors Angela Davis-Gardner and Michael Gillis Come to UNCG

The papers of two eminent alumni authors have come to the University Archives, and are to be processed and made available later this year. The papers of Angela Davis-Gardner include research materials, various drafts of manuscripts, and promotional materials. Angela graduated from UNCG with a MFA in Creative Writing, where her mentors were Randall Jarrell, Robert Watson, and Peter Taylor. The Michael Gills papers also include various drafts of manuscripts, correspondence, and promotional materials.  He was Randall Jarrell Fellow at the MFA Program at UNCG while receiving his degree, and received the Ph.D. in fiction writing from the University of Utah.  

UNCG Librarians Publish Article in C&RL News

As graduation season approaches, the thoughts of many Library and Information Studies students turn to the job search.  Librarians at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro helped prepare a cohort of students for this process through a series of mock phone and in-person job interviews. Agnes K. Bradshaw, LaTesha Velez, and Gerald Holmes discuss the program in their article “ Mock interviews for ACE Scholars ,” which appeared in the April 2013 issue of C&RL News .  "Mock Interviews for ACE Scholars: Preparing for the Professional Job Search." C&RL News 74:no. 6, (April 2013): 192-194. 

Jones Honored as Outstanding Student Library Worker
