Friends of the UNCG Libraries

Faculty promoted and/or tenured in 2016 were honored at the promotion and tenure attainment recognition event held on Monday, September 26 in the Virginia Dare Room of the Alumni House. This program, jointly sponsored by the Office of the Provost and the University Libraries, offers honorees the opportunity to select a book (or other resource) that has special meaning to them. The titles are added to the Libraries collection. A display is mounted next to the Reference desk in Jackson Library, and photos of the honorees with their selections are posted here  http://library.uncg.edu/info/ events_and_awards/recognition/ 2016/   We are particularly pleased to be recognizing three library faculty members who were granted tenure: Keith Gorman, Jenny Dale and David Gwynne pictured here.

Beth Filar-Williams Beth Ann Koelsch Congratulations to the two newly-tenured members of the library faculty at UNCG. Beth Filar-Williams and Beth Ann Koelsch have both reached that status this spring. "I am so pleased that they have received tenure," says Dean of University Libraries Rosann Bazirjian. "It is well deserved - they are both excellent librarians--innovative, dedicated  and very hardworking. They are experts in their respective areas of librarianship. Both Beth and Beth Ann are respected for their skill and knowledge both on campus and within the community." Filar-Williams is Coordinator of Library Services for Distance Learning, and is also completing a period of service as Interim Head of the Digital Media Commons.  Koelsch is Curator of the Betty H. Carter Women Veterans Historical Project.

Earlier this semester the Provost's Office and the University Libraries hosted their annual event to recognize those recently promoted and receiving tenure, as they have since 2006.   Each honoree is invited to select a book for the University Libraries that has been particularly significant for them.
